Bigger, Stronger, Faster.
[In sports, winning is everything, and the pressure to succeed can drive some athletes to start taking banned substances. Filmmaker Chris Bell points the camera at his brothers and himself, all users of steroids. By exploring the reasons behind and effects of steroid use within his family, Bell calls into question the win-at-all-cost attitude so prevalent within American society. ~netflix] really interesting. also, i didn't realize how prevalent steroids were... and how easy it was to get them. sheesh. i think if i were a dude with a low body image, after watching this documentary, i'd probably want to start taking steroids... heh. just like how after i watched Super Size Me, i wanted to eat at McDonald's. 4 stars.
Chuck, Season 1.
[Chuck (Zachary Levi) was a computer nerd working at an electronics store. Then he opened the wrong email and downloaded subliminal government information into his mind. Now, this ordinary guy is running from assassins, spies and terrorists out to pick his brain. With the help of crack CIA operative Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) and a protector from the National Security Agency (Adam Baldwin), Chuck dodges bullets and international intrigue. ~netflix] i'm still finishing up the first season. i'm liking it more and more as the season goes on. i'm bumping it up to 4.5 stars. depending on how the last disc goes, i may even move it up to 5 stars!
Dororo.
[In exchange for a seat of power, Kagemitsu Daigo (Kiichi Nakai) pledged 48 body parts from his unborn son, Hyakkimaru (Satoshi Tsumabuki), to 48 demons. Now a mighty Samurai warrior out for revenge, Hyakkimaru crosses paths with a young thief named Dororo (Kou Shibasaki). With Dororo by his side, Hyakkimaru grows more complete with every demon he vanquishes. Hitori Gekidan co-stars in this live-action adaptation of Tezuka Osamu's manga. ~netflix] very entertaining. i never read the manga, so i had no idea what to expect, but it was so much fun. i was surprised that i liked it so much. 4 stars.
The Love Guru. [Mike Myers is Pitka, an American raised by gurus on an Indian ashram who returns to his native soil to make a name for himself as a spiritual guide, where he's promptly challenged to settle a rivalry between two pro hockey players (Justin Timberlake and Romany Malco). With one of the player's marriages -- as well as the Stanley Cup -- at stake, Pitka must call upon his healing skills to mend the rift before time runs out. ~netflix] i really didn't like it. i gave it two stars. here's steve's review. he didn't like it either.
You Don't Mess with the Zohan.
[Adam Sandler also stars as the titular Zohan, an Israeli counterterrorism soldier with a secretly fabulous ambition to become a Manhattan hairstylist, in this comedy he co-wrote with Judd Apatow (Knocked Up) and Robert Smigel. Zohan's desire runs so deep that he'll do anything -- including faking his own death and going head to head with an Arab cab driver (Rob Schneider) -- to make his dreams come true. ~netflix] okay, seriously? that was... bad. i can't believe that judd apatow and robert smigel helped write it. i won't give it just one star since i actually finished watching it... i guess i'll give it two. man, having to watch 2 SNL alums effe things up (see: The Love Guru) was just SO painful. sometimes they get things right, but when they don't? it's just REALLY, REALLY bad. save yourself. don't watch this movie.

Finding Nemo.
[Pixar has created another amazing animated adventure, this time heading underwater as two plucky fish, Marlin and Dory (voiced by Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres), search high and low for Marlin's missing son, Nemo (Alexander Gould). In addition to the other much-loved ocean-dwelling characters in this box office recordbreaker, this widescreen version includes deleted scenes, a making-of documentary, "The Art of Nemo" featurette and more. ~netflix] yup. her very first time. and she loved it. and i totally cried like a baby. i swear, movies take on a whole new meaning when you become a parent. heh. i forgot how good this movie was...

love guru was a big disappointment. i'll probably end up watching zohan anyway, even if it's lame. booooo.
Hmmm yeah Nemo was a nice and funny movie, didn't see any of those others yet.

okay, so why are you going to willingly torture yourself with zohan? hehe. it's painful. i tried. i really did. the only reason why i didn't rate it 1-star is because i didn't turn it off mid-way. i reserve my 1-star ratings for movies i can't get all the way through. heh.
Bigger Stronger Faster is a good documentary, if you like docs...
but for the love of GOD, stay away from The Love Guru and Zohan! save yourself! hehe.
Thanks for the tip Grace, yep i like Japanese movies, got some here on DVD myself but none of the ones you mentioned there.
